If you are a reader and currently have Target promotional codes and are looking for ways to spend them to enjoy your discount, you might be curious to know whether you can use them toward the purchase of an electronic book or Ebooks.

Actually Target was one of the first retailers outside of Amazon to offer the wildly popular Kindle electronic reading device in stores. Additionally, Target offers many Ebooks and yes, promo codes can be used to purchase them online.

Electronic books are really the wave of the future. While audio books were for a while the new wave of print technology, Ebooks have quickly begun to be the new “it” item in the world of reading.

The great thing about Ebooks is the ease of being able to access whatever it is you hope to read. No more heading to the store to peruse the shelf only to find that the book you hoped to read isn’t in stock and needs to be ordered. Now with just a couple of clicks you can easily download any print item you wish to read to your electronic reading device of choice and read until your heart’s content. Technology has really advanced the whole world of reading, changing the face of it.

Prior to the advent of electronic reading devices or e-readers, ebooks were available to be read on computers or downloaded beginning in the 1980s. People could use their computers to read the Ebooks, while more recently people began downloading them to their phones. The very first reported Ebook was created in 1971 as part of the Gutenberg Project.

Now, Ebooks are quickly becoming the medium of choice s, with Amazon reporting in July 2010 that Ebook sales had eclipsed hardcover books sales 180 to 100. This number is sure to continue to rise as the cost of e-Readers declines.
